Kylan deGhetaldi is a singer/songwriter who goes by the online moniker FoundRing. Kylan’s 16-year YouTube career was abruptly taken from him last month when YouTube deleted the channel he’d been uploading to since 2007. While the majority of Kylan’s music is cheerful jazz/ragtime with a combination of cheerful and bluesy vibes, he’s also used his platform to sprinkle in parodies he wrote that contain sharp, biting satire that highlights the absurdities of our era.
Kylan wrote a parody in late 2022 titled “The Speed of Science” which is so accurate in its irony that listening to it is almost therapeutic.
Kylan joined Etana Hecht of the DailyClout to discuss musical commentary on culture throughout American history, the censorship he personally endured, and his optimistic look towards continuing his work in the future. This episode includes some fun clips of Kylan’s music and old music that inspired him.
