"As a personal anecdote, I saw a man drop dead earlier this week next to my gate at Miami International Airport."

I can't be the only one to think of Bob Saget . . .

Thanks Etana - this is very important information. There is a quantifiable risk of crashes due to cardiovascular injury among pilots.

As the person behind me is masked up outside in the heat!! I feel like we are doomed cause these are the very people who will keep this whole thing going. Of course til they all die from the shots!

I thoroughly expect to see someone drop, sometimes folks I see jogging and biking do not look healthy; pale or red faced. I want to tell them not to push it, but I don't. When. will. they. wake?

Same here. Witnessed one pulmonary embolism in neighbor (dead within 20 minutes) and about 2 months later, our basketball ref lost consciousness during our game while running down the court and fell face first. He suffered a massive heart attack (and subsequently two mini strokes) 10 feet in front of me. After weeks in ICU, he is still alive but will have a very slow and difficult recovery. Could be a complete coincidence but at 56, having never seen this in my life, twice in a few months, I doubt it.

"We can expect mainstream outlets to studiously ignore this new development..." Nailed it again, Etana. Poverty, sickness and shocking all-cause mortality rate rises - it took our governments just 2 years to do this. Constant public service announcements about 'sudden, rare' heart attacks in children, adult shingles, strokes... as long as we keep calling them out on this BS, we will win. Buckle up.

The unjabbed who are unable to fly in Canada are safe from such dangers.

We're not worried for the flight, modern airliners can be flown with a single pilot, however the second pilot is there to deal with emergencies, severe weather (fog ,snow, storms, traffic and terrain) , of more concern are single pilot aircraft (military!) And helicopters. Everyone on the ground now has a higher risk.
